Beverly Acha Callographs

{ one: Luster, 2009 | two: Untitled, 2009 | three: If I Shoot You Will You Shoot Me, 2009 | four: Pelt, 2009 }

Amazing colors and textures by Brooklyn-based painter and printmaker Beverly Acha. The pieces are so rich, they almost look like textiles to me. Imagine how cool a silk dress or a throw pillow made from a fabric with a pattern similar to the Luster print would be. I first spotted Beverly's work on my friend Meghan's blog Cities In Dust.

Kelly

{ one: Grace Kelly in Rear Window | two: EB FW10 Ellsworth Blouse | three: Ellsworth Kelly's Cité }

The sheer Ellsworth Blouse from our Fall Winter 2010 collection was inspired by the geometric yet soft lines of Ellsworth Kelly's paintings, thus the namesake. We were tickled when we came across a movie still from Rear Window of a different Kelly wearing a similar black number.

Saturday Morning Feast

We had some friends in town for the weekend and spent the majority of the time cooking big meals. On Saturday morning we had sweet potato hash, black beans, fresh salsa with tomatillos and jalapeños from our farm share, sauteed tofu, scrambled eggs, avocado, cheddar, faux cheese for our vegan guests, tortilla chips, and OJ. It was the perfect fall breakfast, mmm mmm mmm.

Halloween Costuming

I bought this fun Pendleton cape at a vintage store in Bloomington, Indiana last fall. It felt like an especially great find because of the current attention the brand is getting due to their collaboration with Opening Ceremony. I kept it on the vintage rack at the Elise Bergman Studio at Roslyn for a while, but pulled it a few weeks ago when I realized it would be the perfect Little Red Riding Hood cape for a homemade Big Bad Wolf costume. I used squares of fake fur, plastic cat eyes, and three colors of felt from JoAnn Fabrics and this photo of Joanna Newsom for inspiration. What do you think?
